Had a lovely day in and around Liverpool today after I decided to approach my day as a tourist. There is a running joke in my family that if I judge something as being crap in this country, I would think it was unique in another country and take a picture of it. I am definitely guilty of that😄.
Crosby……
Started my day at Moose coffee in Crosby. They serve american style breakfasts, which remind me of being on holiday. I had bronx brunch which was lovely and filling. We then went to Crosby beach where Anthony Gormley’s-‘ Another place statues are. They are everywhere, buried in the sand, in the sea. We enjoyed spotting them as we walked along the beach. My son was desperate to wade into the sea to get me a closer photo. We talked him out of that😄. Great beach to visit and there was a festival on too.
A dock full of things to do….
Next we visited Albert dock. We have been to Albert dock many times. It’s a nice place to stroll around . We like to look in the quaint shops or eat or drink cocktails at the many restaurants and bars. With my tourist goggles on I gained a whole new perspective and realised there is lots to see and do including Maritime and International slavery museums. For art lovers there is The Tate. If music is your thing and your a Beatles fan there is the Beatles story and the stop for The Beatles magical mystery tour. Theres also lots of statues to look at. The Echo arena is also next to it where you can take in a concert or show, or board the Liverpool eye to look down on the dock. These are just a selection of attractions on offer.
Baltic market….
To finish off the day we visited the new “in” place to eat and drink, Baltic market. There are lots of different food stalls including pizza, falafel, waffles and the popular halloumi fries and ice cream sushi. Here is also home to Peaky Blinders bar based on the TV show.
Overall food and drinks looked lovely. Unique place to eat and drink and sample a different twist on many foods.
I had a fab time looking at my home city through tourist eyes. Liverpool is a vibrant city with a host of things to see and do. Today was just a small selection. I would definitely recommend visiting Liverpool or viewing your own town or city as a tourist.
Quote to sum up the day….
In the words of Ferris Bueller “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.”
