As in previous posts I have mentioned that Dawn and I love Walt Disney World, we have both visited there on numerous occasions and stayed both on site – in a resort hotel and offsite – on International Drive and Kissemee. There are many options for visits to Walt Disney World and many people stay in a villa. Dawn and I prefer hotels so none of our experiences are villa based.
On our most recent visit my family and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, this is moderate hotel based near Disney Springs. We chose this hotel because enjoyed a previous visit there but also because in the UK this hotel offers the free quick service dining plan. The quick service dining includes 2 quick service meals and two snacks per day per guest. you can also get a cup the has non alcoholic unlimited refills at the resorts.
We like the quick service because you don’t have to worry about booking in advance. Guests are allowed to book table service restaurants 180 days in advance and many of these restaurants fill up fast. My only stipulation for this trip was that I wanted to try breakfast at Be Our Guest.
When we visit Disney we have a tendency to eat breakfast using 1 meal credit then snack through the day and use the second meal credit for an evening meal. I know many people feel that using a meal credit for breakfast is not the best value but it has always been good for us.
My daughter is not really a morning person so most days the easiest and least stressful option was to eat at the hotel. Port Orleans has reasonable choice, there is the usual fayre of Mickey waffles and pancakes but there is also an omelette option and a parfait making area. You can also chose what Disney call the bounty platter this is basically bacon sausage eggs and small waffles.
The exception to this was the afor mentioned reservation at Be Our Guest.
Be Our Guest is a Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant the is based in the beast’s castle. The restaurant is French and very popular. this restaurant also has mobile dining where you can order you food in advance.
We did enjoy Be our Guest, the food was very nice and was brought in a timely manner. Be our Guest is quick service at breakfast and lunch and table service at dinner. Each order includes an entree and drink and a plate of pastries for the whole party to share. The food is ordered using either the online app or electronically when you arrive, you then find a table and the waiters bring the food to you.
On this visit I really wanted to try the Tonga Toast from Cap’N Cooks at the Polynesian resort. So on one of the days we intended to visit Magic Kingdom we decided to start the day with breakfast at Cap’N Cooks.
We also continued our tradition of eating at Sleepy Hollow after the welcome show. Unfortunately my usual breakfast is no longer available. I used to like a savoury ham and cheese waffle so the Nutella and fruit waffle was both Niamh and my breakfast choice for that day.
Whether or not you choose to use credits or pay out of pocket for breakfast at Walt Disney World there is definitely lots of choice. If nothing takes your fancy you can always use your snack credits at the Starbucks that are in each park and Disney Springs. They might even spell your name right 😁
